If you are one of those people waiting on motivation to strike in so that you can start moving towards your goals, I have the saddest fact for you: this is not going to happen. For every movement that takes place, another set of reasons appears for you to keep moving. So, if you are waiting to START once you feel like it, you are doing it all wrong. How can we discipline without offending? The Praise-Correct-Praise method is wonderful to use not only with your employees, to discipline them, but also with your family and friends. Often times we give feedback or even reprimands that are perceived as offensive and underrating. Even if you do compliment on things done right, IF you continue the conversation with a HUGE “BUT”, your employee or family member can feel underappreciated. So you can see how important it is to correct people the right way, providing valuable feedback without leaving the person feeling underestimated. To give constructive criticism without sounding like a critique, you should start with a compliment, followed by the correction, dropping the word ‘BUT’, and finishing with another compliment to emphasize the good work. Your correction should sound like an addendum to their performance, something to make them eager to improve to become even better at what they do. And always as possible, address the reasons why that improvement would be good for the own person, the clients, the family, or the company. You are not alone in dwelling upon how to provide helpful but not hurtful feedback. Utilize the Praise-Correct-Praise method and share with us how are your employees, family, and friends are reacting to it.
The way most of us were taught to learn was to simply read or watch a lecture and suppose we have the information stored for when we eventually have to use it. You must remember the cartoon G.I. Joe, and how he taught children about knowledge being 50% of the work. Well, what do you think of that? You probably think you’ve got it when you are studying something for your life or business, but the truth of the matter is that you and I both tend to rely on our memory to retain learned information. And we can’t rely on our memory if we want the actual change and transformation we envisioned when we started learning something new. It takes repetition. So the two significant tips for learning business or anything else effectively are LEARNING SPACING and ACTION TODAY, NOT TOMORROW. Learning Spacing is to have inputs and outputs of content in chunks, so you can better process it. It is called CHUNK LEARNING, and it is what we do here in SuccessBreaks. The other significant tip we have for you to experience effective learning is to ACT on it TODAY and not tomorrow. That way you can practice and retain the knowledge. So, don’t rely on your memory to retain knowledge. Learn effectively by applying these two major tips. Commit to practice!

Is following your passion a business model? If you think about most graduation speeches, they tend to center around following your passion for being successful, but is this true? Interesting research from Stanford University showed otherwise, mainly because we make some assumptions about us that may or may not be true, one of them being that we already have a passion to follow and that we only have one passion. Is the answer finding your passion or exploring the world? Stanford research suggests that the answer is exploring the world. Take Jeff Bezos as an example, he did plenty of things before Blue Origin, what was considered a passion of his. What about you? Do you agree you need to follow your passion no matter what, OR that you can explore it while having something (a job or business) on the side?
Do you try to get motivated by yourself to accomplish the things you want on a day-to-day basis? Katherine Milkman of Wharton School did an interesting study that can help me and you. How is it working for you?
